Yes, you can buy a gift for another user from this website or from our internet retailers. All you need to know is the eBook ID of the device to which you are sending content when you "check out."

When
I am through with an eBook Edition, can I give it to someone else to
read on his or her eBook?
Unfortunately this is not possible, because each publication is encrypted
for each individual eBook device. You can, however, loan your eBook
device to someone else so they can read what you already have loaded
on that eBook device.

If
I have more than one eBook device, do I need to buy more than one copy
of a particular eBook Edition?
If you wish to have a particular eBook Edition on each of your
eBook devices, then you will need to purchase the title for each device.
The encryption process that allows Filament Books to make frontlist, premium
content available to you does not allow the transfer of an eBook Edition
between two eBook devices or customer accounts.

own several different eBook models. Can I read my purchased titles on any model?
Again, this is in fact a security issue. Since we encrypt each title for an individual device, you cannot read your titles on
any other device.

If
I delete an eBook Edition from my eBook device, do I have to
buy it again?
No. Once you have purchased a book, you will always have it available
on your personal Online Bookshelf. If you delete a book from your device, you can download it from your Online Bookshelf to your device again at any time. In the case of newspapers and magazines,
a limited number of issues will be stored on your Online Bookshelf,
depending on the periodical. You can store back issues locally on additional
memory cards if you choose.

How
long can I keep an eBook Edition?
Any books purchased will always remain on your personal Online Bookshelf.
A limited number of newspaper and magazine back issues will be stored
on your Online Bookshelf depending on the publication.

How
long does it take to download a novel to an eBook device?
Download time is usually from 1 to 3 minutes for a 400-page book. It takes a little longer if
the book has photographs and graphic images. Downloading is faster via Ethernet or USB.

Can
I transfer eBook Editions to my PC or Palm Pilot?
Such a transfer is impossible at this time for two reasons. First, we
encrypt each title for a single device, so the same title cannot
be read anywhere else; second, the PC and the Palm Pilot are considered
"open" systems: anything read on a PC or Palm could be copied illegally.
